Considering the territorial extension of Brazil, the railway transport mode becomes an excellent option for transport of loads and passengers.
In this our last post about TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE we are going to talk about RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURE.
RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURE is the branch of TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEERING that addresses the necessary disciplines for design, planning, operation and construction of RAILWAYS for load trains, subways and tourist trains.
After a long period of stagnation and lack of investments, the Brazilian railway system has been gaining strength with the recent concessions, allowing the resumption of its growth. Being today the most scrapped transport mode in the country, it is clear the need for projects and studies performed by specialized engineers in the field. The Brazilian system has remained long periods with little or no maintenance, which generates demand for projects on that area, besides the expansion and modernization of existing lines as well as the construction of new ones.
RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURE projects are mostly very complex due to their extension and geometric limitations of rails. In Brazil, the situation is further aggravated by the continental extensions and the great variation of topography, which results in a significant amount of other complex works such as bridges and tunnels, both associated with other projects in the basic disciplines of transport infrastructure.
Solutions for the rail system require more organization and synchronization of the various components which ends up requiring more detailed projects and studies that are closely related to operational issues.
RAIL INFRASTRUCTURE projects are developed taking into account the regulations and regulations of DNIT, DER and ANTT. In addition to the global planning and design guidelines, RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURE depends heavily on the operation and type of transportation, whether passenger or cargo, and the type of power used (electric, diesel-electric, steam).
INFRAWAY develops RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURE studies and projects in the areas of planning, earthworks, paving, drainage and also counts with specialized partners to develop complementary disciplines such as electrical, electronics, hydraulics, architecture and environment.
